Do we keep our current health insurance?
Yes. While HaloScrips covers chronic medications, you will continue to use your insurance for urgent meds such as antibiotics and pain medications.
Do we continue working with our current PBM?
You will continue to work with your current PBM to address non-chronic medications such as antibiotics. In addition, HaloScrips does not sell controlled substances such as pain medications, so you will continue to work with your PBM for these meds as well.
What medications are covered?
HaloScrips covers virtually all chronic medications. More urgent medications, such as antibiotics are covered under your existing drug plan, as are controlled substances such as pain medications.
What employees are covered?
HaloScrips’s initial data analysis will result in a clear picture of the employee group that makes economic sense. For example, the group could include those employees taking 2 or more medications. In another data set, it could be those taking 3 or more. The cutoff line is determined by a number of factors, such as types of medications and prescription distribution within the group.
How is my spend predictable?
In the traditional model, the price of a drug depends on the pharmacy where it is purchased, the manufacturer of the drug, and a number of other factors. As a pharmacy, HaloScrips provides a single source and a single price for each drug. Based on an analysis of your company’s previous 6 month spend, HaloScrips can show you exactly what you will spend for the same drugs on a quarterly basis. HaloScrips takes the variance out of drug pricing.
How do you save me money?
HaloScrips takes your heaviest users of chronic medications (usually about 50% of pharmacy spend) and provides you their drugs at true acquisition cost. This results in substantial savings to both you and your employees.
Why do employees have no copay?
A recent poll showed that “more than 40% of Americans are struggling to pay for the cost of their medications – even though nearly all of them have some kind of health insurance coverage.” The employees selected to participate in the HaloScrips plan are those taking the most medications, with the accompanying financial burden. Removing co-pays ensures medication compliance and increases employee satisfaction.
How do I get started?
The first step in working with HaloScrips is obtaining historical prescription information for data analysis. In most cases, six months of history provides enough data for analysis and savings reporting.
What format is required?
We accept data in .xlsx or .csv format. An Excel template can be downloaded by clicking here.
How do I get my data?

What medications are covered?
Most medications for chronic conditions – medications you take regularly – are covered. Examples of medications not covered include controlled substances such as pain pills, and medications for urgent illness, such as antibiotics.
How do you qualify for the HaloScrips program?
Employees that take two or more daily medications are eligible for inclusion in the HaloScrips plan.
What do I do for occasional medications (ie antibiotics)?
Even if you are part of the HaloScrips program for your chronic (regularly-taken) medications, you will continue to use your regular pharmacy program for occasional medications.
Do all my dependents receive their medication from HaloScrips?
Only those dependents enrolled in the HaloScrips program will receive their medications from HaloScrips. All others will continue to use your regular pharmacy plan.
What do I need to get started?
We will ask you about your contact information, health provider contact information, and prescription information (name and dosage of each medication). You will want to have this information on hand for the onboarding call.
How long does it take to get registered?
The entire process takes less than 30 minutes.
How does the process work?
The onboarding call usually takes less than 30 minutes. After the onboarding call, you will receive an initial shipment of your medications. There will probably be different amounts of each medication – this is done to synchronize your prescriptions so that they all fill on the same day. Following this initial shipment, you will receive quarterly shipments of medications.
How do I add new medications or cancel/change existing medications?
To make changes to your medications, simply call 800-901-4195 and follow the prompts.
I didn’t need to use my 3 month supply of medication. What do I do with the medication I didn’t use?
Pharmaceutical waste is growing at an alarming rate and is an increasing cause of risk and concern. HaloScrips is committed to being part of the solution by supporting medication reclamation through its Safe RxReturn program. Members can return unused or expired medications to HaloScrips for proper disposal with no shipping fees. In select markets, members can contact ScripRide for medication pickup.
I have a question for the pharmacist – how do I contact them and when are they available?

What if I no longer work for my company, can I still get my medications from HaloScrips?
While you will no longer be able to get your medications from HaloScrips, you may be able to obtain them through our sister company, Good Shepherd Pharmacy
